On the 3th of October women in Poland and in a lot of other European cities went out on the streets to protest against the complete ban of abortion planned by the Polish government.
It was a huge success and the Polish Parliament rejected the proposed law.
But, as expected, the PiS party went back to the drawing table and despite the will of the people they are planning a new draft.
‘We will strive to ensure that even in pregnancies where a child is sure to die, or be strongly deformed, women will end up giving birth so that the child can be baptised, buried, and have a name,’ Jaroslaw Kaczynski says.
Supported by Ordo Iuris, a Catholic pro-life organisation, the new proposal goes even further than the rejected one and wants to ban not only abortion, but contraception too.
Polish women are planning a new general strike on Monday the 24th of October against the Polish government’s latest proposal. You can show your support here.
Europa United will not accept that European Union’s citizens’ rights should be violated in this way and we stand with the Polish women in this fight.
