In the first of a special series on Science in Europe, Ken Sweeney, Stella Bass and Michael Holz chat with Daniel Whiteson.
Daniel is a professor of experimental particle physics at the University of California, Irvine, and a fellow of the American Physical Society. He conducts research using the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. While Daniel is not in Switzerland opening mini black holes, along with his co-host, cartoonist, Jorge Cham, Daniel hosts a brilliant and informative podcast titled Daniel and Jorge Explain the Universe which is a discussion of the big, mind-blowing, unanswered questions about the Universe and each episode explains science in a fun and jargon-free way. We chat to Daniel about his podcast but also about his day job at CERN.
